It's the Little Things

I work part time at a college, in a department where each learner is neurospicy. We have our weekly class schedules to attend both within the program and also in mainstream college, so technically, every day is based on a strict schedule ... and yet each day is totally different from the last day ... and I LOVE it! We just started a new semester, and it's my second semester here so I've gotten to know some of the students really well.

One morning last week, they kept trying to get me to share who I like "the most". I just kept repeating that I don't "love any of you more or less. Some of you appreciate my sarcasm more than others, that is all". They all accepted that as a response, while still trying to find out who I like "the most". Lol!

One of the students messaged me early in the morning to say that they had a surprise for me but they wouldn't tell me before bringing it. In this department, you never know what a surprise can be; could be a story, could be what they just bought, could be a picture, could be some art, the possibilities are endless...

The surprise they brought was a tea for me from their home, in a tumbler:

Such a lovely gesture! They even brought some sugar in for me because they knew that I take milk in my tea but weren't sure about sugar. It had been a really draining day up until they arrived around 9:30am and I hadn't had time for my morning tea, so it felt extra special!

Also, for Christmas, my new partner's sister gave me a little gift... which I absolutely adore:

Plus, although he and I have only been seeing eachother for six months, the fact that it reads "sister-in-law" made it that much more special. I didn't "need" any validation that she accepts me into the family because I already knew that... it's just really sweet that she made it "public" that way.

Both of these gestures are so lovely and unexpected; just a couple "little things that mean so much", giving each a much higher emotional value than the actual cost. I proudly tell people around the College what my Badass Sister-in-Law tumbler reads when they ask. Plus it shows how much her brother and I are "together" despite only having met six months ago.

Have you done something little that brightens someone else's day recently? I would love to hear about it!
